We organised the November event to recruit local tradespeople to join our existing teams.
The open evening took place at Warndon Hub on Thursday 29 November in a bid to bridge the gap between supply and demand.
Dennis Evans, our Group Property Care Director explained : “This was the first time that we had arranged such an event and we were all extremely heartened by its success. A total of 26 possible employees attended finding out about a variety of roles from labourers to carpenters and painters and decorators. Following on from the event, those who attended have undergone practical assessments and we are delighted to announce that we have offered a number of jobs. A great success all round!”
The next open event will take place in Tewkesbury next month.
We offer employees a complete package of help and support, even before they begin their new role with us; this ‘life at Fortis’ approach supports their transition into the business.
Dennis concluded : “Like most housing associations up and down the country, we have seen a surge in demand for skilled tradespeople. These open events aim to bridge this gap and encourage people to join our team, helping to develop a robust and thorough organisation. We believe in better people who feel as though they belong.”
We are also at the forefront of encouraging women into construction, as well as supporting apprentices across different trades and organising work placements in a range of departments.
